The Bedmar family donates its Barcelona’92 Olympic Games collection to the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica

The Fundació Barcelona Olímpica has incorporated into its archive a significant collection of photographic material from the personal archive of photographers Francisco Bedmar and Jordi Bedmar, father and son, closely linked to the visual documentation of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The donation was received by the Director of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, Francesc Terrón, and was jointly made by Jordi Bedmar Pascual and his siblings, Francesc Bedmar Pascual and Rosa Maria Bedmar Pascual.

The collection comprises 6,890 photographs from the Barcelona’92 Games, constituting a valuable visual record of the most important sporting event ever held in the country and, most likely, one of the most significant Olympic Games in history. The images document both the sporting competitions and the Olympic atmosphere, as well as the urban and social transformation associated with the celebration of the Games.

Francisco and Jordi Bedmar have highly distinguished professional careers as photographers. For this reason, the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica expresses its gratitude to the Bedmar family for their generosity in making this donation and for their commitment to preserving the city’s photographic and Olympic heritage.

With this acquisition, the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica strengthens its photographic collection and consolidates its mission to preserve, study and disseminate the Olympic legacy of Barcelona. The collection will be made available to the research community, cultural institutions and the general public.
