Paolo Badano presented his chair which features an innovative movement system for the physically handicapped

With help from the Badano Adapted Area, he presented his GENNY chair at the Olympic Museum of Barcelona. A revolutionary chair that allows users (people with physical disabilities), access and mobility to remote areas such as beaches or mountain paths.

 

The International Meeting of World Olympic Museums is organized annually by the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, in an effort to generate synergies among the various Olympic Museums throughout the world that are members of the Olympic Museum Network, under the sponsorship of the IOC

The IOC grants a credential to those museums that comply with the established organizational norms, as indicated from Lausanne. The Olympic Museum located in Barcelona, known as Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch, is one of the 21 official museums in the world.   

 

The first Cardio-Sports Conference

The Spanish Association against Sudden Death, with the support of the City of Barcelona, held the first Cardio-Sports Conference at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympics and Sports Museum in Barcelona.

“El Olimpo del Motor”, the new area at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum) pays homage to the MotoGP family.

Under the watchful eyes of Paolo and Rossella Simoncelli, the parents of the late driver Marco Simoncelli; Carmelo Ezpeleta, Managing Director of Dorna; Marc Martín, the sports journalist who came up with the idea for the initiative; Juli Pernas, Director of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and riders Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez, Toni Elías,  Pol Espargaró, Julián Simón,  Nico Terol, Emilio Alzamora, Albert Llovera, Alex Rins, Salvador Cañelles, Jordi Torres, Jacub Kornfeil and Joan Lascorz – teams, the press and other people linked to the MotoGP family inaugurated the “El Olimpo del Motor” space with a special tribute to Marco Simoncelli.

Nanjing delegation

The delegation from Nanjing, the site of the upcoming 2014 Youth Olympic Games, visited the Joan Antoni Samaranch Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum)

Marksman Joan Seguí Picornell (Palma, 1947), a five-time Olympian, has assigned one of his pistols to the Joan Antoni Samarach Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum)

Along with the .22 calibre “LLAMA” brand short range pistol with serial number XXX859, (properly disabled by the Spanish Civil Guard), Seguí also assigned a 25 m distance target which is used for the Olympic rapid fire event.

The Results of the International Barcelona Olympic Foundation Prize – Art on Paper. Granada native Leonor Solans won with her work entitled “Amazona”.

‘Boxeo’ by Ana Belén Hernández came in second and ‘La triatlò” by Barcelona native Daniel Fuster came in third place.

The three winning pieces in addition to the finalist entries will be on display as of 13 September in the temporary exhibit room of the Joan Antoni Samarach Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum).
