The Royal Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation and the WBSC pay tribute to Julio Pernas, trustee of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, at the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch.

The Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch, headquarters of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica (FBO), hosted yesterday the press conference for the baseball qualifier for the WBSC Premier12 2027. As part of the presentation, tribute was paid to the career of Julio Pernas, FBO trustee and former president of the Royal Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation (RFEBS).
Pernas received the RFEBS Medal of Honour from Pablo Carpio, the federation’s current president, in recognition of his 20 years at the helm of the federation. Carpio said: “This medal is a well-deserved thank-you from the entire Spanish baseball and softball family to a historic president.”
The President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Riccardo Fraccari, wished to join in the tribute and referred to Pernas as “an old friend.”
The Fundació Barcelona Olímpica congratulates our trustee on this well-deserved recognition of a career devoted to the development of baseball and softball in our country, and we are delighted that the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch was the setting for an event that brings together the Olympic legacy of Barcelona 1992 and the present of these sports.
