On 25 July, the 34th anniversary of the opening ceremony of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games will be celebrated — an event that transformed the city and established it as one of the world’s leading sports capitals.
Against this backdrop, the Joan Antonio Samaranch Olympic and Sport Studies Centre presents a new instalment of the Oral Memory project, featuring the testimonies of seven individuals who played key roles in the organisation and competition of the Barcelona’92 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The project was launched in 2022 with the aim of preserving, recording and sharing the spirit of those who devoted part of their lives to promoting Olympic and sporting values, and who helped establish Barcelona as one of the world’s leading sports capitals. The first testimonies gathered gave rise to the documentary “30 Views, 30 Years Later,” which tells, through a range of voices, the story of the most important event in the city’s history.
