Catalonian Olympians meet at the Olympic and Sports Museum for the October 17, 1986 anniversary, when the city of Barcelona was chosen to host the Olympic Games

Pere Alcober, president of Fundación Barcelona Olímpica, inaugurated the encounter of Catalonian Olympians, with Olympic medal winners.

María Vasco – bronze medal winner in 20 km race walking at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Andrea Fuentes – silver medal winner in synchronized swimming duets and team at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
David Barrufet – bronze medal winner in handball at the 2000 Sydney and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Santi Freixa – silver medal winner in grass hockey at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

“The Balcony of the Catalonian Olympic Medal Winners”

Mr. Alcober showed the athletes the latest changes undertaken at the Olympic Museum, including the “The Balcony of the Catalonian Olympic Medal Winners.” This exhibit shows all of the Olympic medals earned by Catalonian athletes since the first Olympics held en Antwerp in 1920—where Ricardo Zamora, Agustí Sancho and Josep Samitier, all from Catalonia, were members of the combined soccer team that earned the silver—to the latest success earned at Beijing 2008.
