Rafael Nadal, winner of the first ‘Premi Internacional Joan Antoni Samaranch’

The most successful Spanish player of all time, Rafael Nadal, has been awarded the first edition of "Premi Internacional Juan Antonio Samaranch”, which has been presented this afternoon at the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch.

This new award, created by Real Federación Española de Tenis with the support of Samaranch’s family, will be international and you will annually recognize the path related to the world of tennis, both individual and institutional. The distinction assess not only the successes, but also the ability to transmit human values​​, effort, solidarity and promotion of tennis and sport. The prize, a trophy sculpture made ​​of iron by the Catalan artist Miquel Planas Roselló, has been presented in public by Ana Gras Samaranch, granddaughter Juan Antonio Samaranch, accompanied by the President of Federación Española de Tenis, José Luis Escañuela, the President of Federació Catalana de Tennis, Francesc Orriols, and National Coach Albert Costa.
